Rihanna romance 'not serious'

Rihanna's recent dates with a basketball star were just "a distraction".

The singer was spotted with New York Knicks player J.R. Smith several times last month. While there was speculation Rihanna had fallen for the bad boy athlete, those close to the star insist she isn't interested in taking things any further.

"The dates with J.R. weren't serious," a source told Look magazine. "It was just a distraction - another wild night where she met the wrong kind of guy and had too much fun."

Rumours have been circulating that Rihanna has grown close to her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown again.

They are believed to be spending increasing amounts of time together, which is reportedly the reason behind Rihanna's reluctance to commit to another man.

"She is definitely not over Chris. She tries, but then she'll bump into him at an event? and it takes her straight back. I think she clings to this idea that it's fate pushing them together," a source revealed.

"It's always an, 'If with her when she's talking about Chris? She just doesn't make good choices when it comes to men."

Rihanna’s Wild Partying

Rihanna‘s friends are reportedly very worried that her partying has gotten “out of control.” According to Star, Rihanna reportedly freaked out when Chris Brown got a tattoo of his girlfriend Karrueche Tran‘s face on his arm — and you’ll never believe what that caused her to do! “When Chris got the tattoo,” the source says. “Rihanna freaked out. She’s been obsessed with the thought that he’s going to marry Karrueche and she’ll never be able to get back with him. She’s heartbroken and in a bad place.”
Isn’t that just so sad? A source goes on to say that Rihanna gets tired of just sitting in her hotel room so she goes out and parties late and drinks by herself. “When people tell her she’s a role model, she goes crazy,” the source says. “She doesn’t want to hear it. If anything, she rebels and goes out and does something even more shocking than the time before.” The source says that Rihanna posted the photo of herself with a white substance at Coachella, and pretended to be in a lesbian relationship just to rebel. “Rihanna loves being a bad girl and shocking people,” the source adds. “She says she’s having fun, but it’s clear she’s acting out because she’s in a lot of emotional pain.”

Rihanna Addresses Marijuana Controversy (Recap)

On Friday Rihanna Addresses Marijuana Controversy was a top story. Here is the recap: (popmusiclife) Reports and photos of Rihanna smoking pot at the Coachella festival last weekend have made some headlines for the pop singer. Billboard reports the headlines have forced Rihanna to respond. On Thursday, the uptight folks at MTV tweeted "Yikes. @Rihanna's marijuana photos from Coachella spark controversy," posting shots from the singer's Instagram feed and drawing a barbed response from Rihanna herself.
"@MTV Yikes… @rihanna ran out of f***s to give," she tweeted back. MTV has since deleted its tweet, though the story remains posted. "I'm crazy, and I don't pretend to be anything else," Rihanna tweeted on Tuesday, in response to fans concerned by the photos. Perhaps she was drawing inspiration from past artists: on Wednesday, Rihanna took to her Twitter page to advise fans to see the new Bob Marley documentary, "Marley." "Bob Marley is my HERO #thatisall," she added, of the noted reggae icon and marijuana aficionado. The singer’s Coachella photos aren’t the only ones that have made headlines for the pop superstar; in January, Rihanna was caught on film enjoying some herb while on vacation in Hawaii.

Rihanna comfortable in movies

Acting is a "natural extension" of Rihanna's talent.

The 'You Da One' singer makes her acting debut in 'Battleship' and her co-star Brooklyn Decker was impressed with how quickly she adapted from performing on stage to the big screen.

She said: "She's been performing for audiences for so long, acting is a natural extension of her talent. She looks so comfortable up there. It's surprising and I think people will be excited to see her."

Brooklyn particularly enjoyed working on the film - which is about aliens attacking a US naval convoy - because she and Rihanna were given strong characters to play who are more than just "damsels in distress".
She added: "Rihanna and I are very much tomboys. I'm actually not a fan of most action films, because you see the girl and she's a damsel in distress with her hair blown out and being rescued by the hero - that annoys me.

"I want the girl to be tough, and this movie actually showcases two women fending for themselves and fighting this battle and being strong, independent, tough women."

Rihanna draws criticism for songs with Brown

Rihanna is known for making bold statements, from her often sexually charged music to her tattoos to even the hue of her hair.

But her latest decision - a musical pairing with the man who three years ago left her bloodied and bruised - has left some questioning her judgment.

On Monday, after days of teasing, Rihanna and Chris Brown debuted two songs featuring each other. Brown sings and raps on the remix of Rihanna's sexually charged song "Birthday Cake," and she appears on a new version of his upbeat tune "Turn up the Music."
Fans have been split about the topic: Some support Rihanna and Brown's collaborations, others condemn it. The topic was still trending on Twitter on late Tuesday, with plenty of tweets criticizing Rihanna for embracing her former abuser.

Rihanna seemed to address the controversy Tuesday when she won best international female artist at the Brit Awards.

"At times when I feel misunderstood, my fans always remind me that it's OK to be myself," Rihanna said.

But Bill Werde, editorial director of the music trade publication Billboard, says Rihanna's decision to make music with Brown could disappoint some of her supporters.

"I think there are people out there that feel betrayed (by) Rihanna," he said. "She has every right to be an individual ... she has every right to date who she wants to date and be with whoever she wants to be with. She's a grown woman.
